Bassani Superbike Header for Z-1
09 Mar 2012 16:59
I had one of these in 1980 on my MKII. Can anyone find one of these. The pipe rode high and was a very large diameter and stayed the same from the collector to the end!

They appear infrequently on eBay...I picked one up two or three years ago for a very reasonable cost...still looking for a baffle for it.

they dont make them any more, but a member or 2 here, has 1. u will most likely have to ask at all the forums or watch for 1 on ebay.
Michael this should look familiar.

I bought one for the 1000 build, but currently have it on my 900. Sounds Great and really woke the bike up. Only pipe I ever had that I liked better was my Yosi back in the day!

I don't see them come up very often, kinda rare these days to see one offered for sale.
They are nice pipes, and I like mine a lot
.
There is a story on a red '78 KZ with a modified Bassani Superbike pipe on it that is more upswept than the production Bassani like on my '78.

Re: Bassani Superbike Header for Z-1
10 Mar 2012 09:43I believe you're thinking of the Yoshimura pipe that stays the same dia. from the collector to the end. The Bassani rides higher than the Yosh, but steps up to a larger dia. about 16" past the collector.KZDragon1102 wrote: I had one of these in 1980 on my MKII. Can anyone find one of these. I have one laying around in my garage, its not in great shape or anything, the front was black & the rear was chrome when I bought it new in 88, so I had the front powder coated silver to match the chrome rear, after having it on my bike till 2010 the chrome started peeling & it has a couple of tiny rust holes on the bottom of the canister & a small ding on one of the down pipes....Ive been keeping it around, thinking of braising the pinholes, as they are on the bottom & it wont show, & then powder coating or painting the whole thing black...in my opinion it was the best sounding pipe, or a close tie to a yosh...it just sucked when it was time for an oil change.
1980 LTD 1000..,1976 LTD 900, have the 1000&900 now. the rest are previous= 1978 KZ 650 B.., 1980 Yamaha XT 500..,1978 Yamaha DT 400.., 1977 Yamaha yz 80..,Honda trail ct 70.., Honda QA 50...5-1/2 hp brigs & straton CAT chopper mini bike...3-1/2 hp mini bike (WHEN GAS WAS ABOUT 45 CENTS A GALLON)!!!!
