performance exhaust for kz and gs
16 Feb 2012 09:38
Hello kz friends,
there is a new performance exhaust on the market. The exhaust is built in The Netherlands by a company called Rastec.
It is a tuned exhaust-system, not just some bended pipes welded together to look nice.
Primary pipes are all equal lenghts, placed in the special collector in the engines firing order (just like POPS did with his racing exhausts) flowing in the secondary pipe, which is tuned to the primaries.
The secondary pipe (or mid-pipe) is a two piece pipe, held together with springs to give some adjustment for different than stock rear-sets and maximum ground clearance.
The muffler has the Oldschool Superbike look and helps scavange the hot exhaust gases from the engine. It's loud. (Db killers available)
The complete system, headers/collector/mid-pipe and muffler, are all ceramic coated (not just painted) inside and out for good looks, heat dissipation and durability.

Take a pic of the pipes off the bike so we can see head pipes!

when you say: you can't decipher, I presume you mean the contents of the logo. It says Rastec in japanese!
the website is called; www.rastec.nl . Here you can read everything about the details.

Not at all, when I say I couldn't decipher the description, its because I can't read Dutch, or whatever language it was written in.

The web sites states “RasTec Racing is geboren uit de liefde voor deze Oldschool Superbikes, zoals in de jaren 80 bereden door o.a. Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson en Wes Cooley.”
I don’t read whatever language that is, but I recognize the names of the racers. If that paragraph is saying those folks used your pipes you may want to inform them. I think Wes Cooley was under the impression that Pops Yoshimura prepared his Suzuki; likewise Eddie Lawson thought Kerker did his pipes; and Freddie Spencer figured HRC (Honda Racing Corp) was providing his. It might be helpful if you have a button that could be clicked on to translate the text. Forgive me if you already do and I just didn’t see it. Ed

If interested, here's a link to one of several available translators:
translate.google.com/
Easy to find the link by Googling the word Translator.
Paste-in the phrase of interest.
The site will automatically identify the language used in the phrase.
And translate the phrase to whatever other language you specify.
In this example, the pasted-in phrase was automatically identified as Dutch, and produced the translation into English.
translate.google.com/#auto|en|RasTec%20R...%20en%20Wes%20Cooley .
Good Fortune!

I was on my phone, so copying and pasting into a translator program wasn't high on the priority list
The page with the exhaust translates like this:
We designed and fabricated for our external 4 in 1 exhaust with ultra-short silencer (not approved for road use) for:
KAWASAKI Z900/1000, Z1000/1100 J / R and GPZ models
SUZUKI GS1000, GSX1100 and GSX1150E models
Length and diameters of the pipe bends and below is calculated to increase the peak power and the maximum torque. (Nice detail: We use the same software as for the Akrapovic exhaust calculations ...)
The four corners are made by individual feathers on the head and in the special 'Formula 1' collector confirmed.
The lower pipe is halfway to twist in order to ensure that the outlet tautly along the super frame is to be mounted, in order to ensure most of the ground clearance in the right-hand turns.
The curves and pipe inside and outside with a black ceramic coating, while the damper has a 'Chromex' ceramic layer to the Classic Superbike look beautiful for years to remain and maintenance to a minimum.
Super quality for exhaust but .... 875, - Euro
