Actually, it's not high in ZDDP according to the guys at teamchevelle.com . Here's the banter: By the way, the whole oil thread they have going on over there is pretty sweet. www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195620
Guys/gal's(?),i will make this short and sweet,
Dan Schmit a fellow tc'r that's running brad penn's semi blend 20w-50 race oil decided to have it tested after he read my post stating it only had approx 650ppm zddp when i had it tested 2x and was nice enough to share it with me/us here in team chevelle.
Well heres what this test done on 7/27/09 from a different lab then i used had for results.
Look for approx 1200-1300ppm zddp/zinc & phos for stock to mild flat tappet perf perf cams and 1400-1500ppm+ zddp for hotter flat tappet perf cams and the brad penn oil doesn't come close to having proper zddp lvls for safe flat tappet cam protection.
Zinc-656ppm
phos-448ppm
calcium-detergent-626 ppm(thats not near enough for a street motor that should have a minumum of 1800-2kppm calcium)
i am pretty sure the brad penn oils are a decent oil for roller setups but i would not use it for a street perf motors with a flat tapet cam that will see regualr street & traffic use involving stop & go idle time which is where the zddp protection is an important protective layer in short times of marginal oiling like when at idle with autorans in gear at a stop light with odle low at 550-600rpms lowing oil pressure along with less oil thorwn off the crank too.
Enough said on this subject for me/lol!!!!!
