Thanks gang-Any suggestions on how to block the exhaust ports so I can use the polished 650 valve cover to retain the stock look?
The 4 circled ports in the pic need to be plugged if possible.

If you do a search, you'll find a post where someone threaded allen plugs. I think they were pipe thread. It looked really nice.
I tried to search, but the search feature blows.

Two ways that come to mind at the moment.
Thread the holes with a pipe tap and use a flush pipe plug.
Plug them with JB Weld or similar epoxy.

Steell-I like the idea of tapping it, threading in a proper sized bolt and grinding the top off flush. Does this sound like it will work? I am hopeful that by plugging these 4 ports I won't be causing any back pressure buildup on clearing the exhaust from the combustion chamber.
If this is an issue then I will probably stick with the Kz650 head but swap cams. valves and springs.

It won't cause any "back-pressure build up". Exhaust did not flow through these ports. Fresh air flowed INTO the exhaust through these ports.

I did not mean to repeat what Lou said, he just types faster
Yeah, threading the holes, screwing in a bolt and gring it flush is a common way to plug them, just be real careful not to mess up the gasket mating surface.
I'd thread the hole, screw a bolt in with my fingers, mark the bolt where it meets the surface, remove the bolt then cut it to size and cut a slot for a screwdiver in the top, then coat it with Loctite and screw it down flush.
