REAL BAD NEWS!!!!!
04 Jun 2024 13:32 - 04 Jun 2024 13:39
Just found out that Sudco International is closing their doors at the end of the month. With Supertrap/Kerker quietly closing their doors a few months back and now the Master Distributor for Mikuni and Keihin in this country doing the same. You begin to wonder who will be next!!!!!!
I have bought from Sudco since back in the '70's. The best thing about Sudco was their vast knowledge of the products they sold and the HUGE selection of parts they had on hand. Never had many things on backorder over all those years of buying from them. If you had a jetting problem with a set of Keihin's or Mikuni's they always had the right answer for any type of problem you could run across!!! That is what I will miss the most about Sudco going bye bye!!
Good bye old friend......

I'm with You Gamma, remember the catalog as thick as a phone book? Thinking..yes sometimes i do, problem stems, at least carb stuff, from ALL the cheap shiny crap sold everywhere now. Nothing fits, rubber smells funny but ya can get a set of 4 rebuild kits to your door next day for 14.99, ha.

When the Tsunami hit Japan a few years back, it crippled both Keihin and Mikuni. Many of their manufacturers were in the region that was badly hit. This included their slide manufacturer. Keihin chose to discontinue many of the older carb sets rather than reinvest in new tooling- dropping CR29's and other good selling parts. Even to this day Keihin struggles - and that certainly contributed to some of Sudco's woes. Vesrah gaskets have also been problematic. Vesrah's main gasket manufacturer stopped making gaskets for the longest time - and Sudco used to sell a lot of Vesrah gasket sets.
There are other factors involved - including the crazy cost of running a business in California.
It is sad to see them close their doors.

Keihin stopped making CR29's?
Is there just a large stock still in warehouses? I see them for sale new on several sites.

I'll know more in a few weeks' time - when Keihin completes the hiring of a new salesperson for the USA. Sudco was the exclusive distributor of Keihin in the USA - and they stopped selling the CR29's a while back. If there are sets available, they are straggler sets.

When a vacuum happens, as in the loss of an important provider of some wanted/needed "thing" something else replaces it. It just is not always what some of us want.
