Passer-by comments you get riding a vintage Kaw
10 May 2017 11:40
It seems without fail that every time I stop somewhere I get one of two comments...
1. Oh man! My relative/friend/neighbor/co-worker had one of those. Nothing on the street could touch it!
2. Oh man! Those things were fast. My relative/friend/neighbor/co-worker was killed riding one.
Anyone else have repeat comment you always hear?

"Used to have one just like it. Wish I'd never sold it. Wanna sell it?"
"Uh hunnert n sixty miles n' aahrr?!? Daayyumm!!!"
"Waddaya' think it's worth?" ...(we tell them it's insured value)... "Really???"
"Haven't seen one of those in a long time."

I always get people incorrectly identifying my 550's as either 750's or 1000's. To be fair, I don't have emblems on the side covers. At least they know it's a Kaw.

Most comments are along the line of "I had one of them, but upgraded to a Harley" which is a scenerio which I would never do in this lifetime. Other comments of "how fast they were" are always kind of amusing. A guy had a KZ400 and said it was so incredibly fast it was too scary to ride.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

See if this works.
All the above. The ones I don't like are those with hungry eyes asking if I want to sell it? NO

11 May 2017 05:58Yeah, we hear that a lot too. "It only goes as fast as you turn the Loud Handle." Is usually our response.RonKZ650 wrote: ... Other comments of "how fast they were" are always kind of amusing...
Many people are surprised when we tell them that a modern 600cc. sportbike will outsprint, have a higher top end, out handle and out brake a Z-1.

I have a 1000 without side badges and always get asked if it's a 750 or 900!
