I think there's a difference between overtaking like that, where you assess each vehicle before you do it, and using it like another lane where (illegally?) people are just riding 20- 30 mph faster than the traffic. In that situation in dense traffic, you have no time to see if vehicles know you are there, or if the driver is texting etc.

Yup, I've seen guys run into car doors, cars moving over on them, all kinds of crap. Most people will let you by but there are a few that like to see someone hurt.
On the FWY I would ride slower than most and have my left turn signal on. I could tell if they see me. Some would move over and some would try to block me. In the 70's a "Chip" was behind me on the 405, blipped his siren, I started to move over as he pulled over the car that blocked me. They don't like it ether.

Of course their cams only face forward but who knows what carnage they left behind as drivers freaked out and panic braked/swerved as they got passed by these geniuses

I think we all agree they are idiots and one or two of them will be in the obit's soon.
However those are not rich spoiled punk kids, those guys carry their balls around in a wheelbarrow. I only ride with a handful of good friends so I don't worry so much about getting hit by another rider, always happens around here on those pokers runs. Those nuts doing 180 and few times a foot from each other, they have done this before.
I did 190 once, for a brief few seconds and shut it down . Phuck that, I'll sit here and watch the videos

I was referring to the car drivers. Imagine your sleepy commute home and you get passed on the shoulder by somebody going 200kph faster and NOT clenching every sphincter and muscle in your body. Then imagine your maiden Aunt Doris.

Rich spoiled kids, kids with imaginary testosterone, kids trying to impress a buddy or a chick...kids just thinking they're cool...kids with no life or family to go home to...kids that think they can outrun cops...or think their engines will last forever or can afford to rebuild them every 2 or 3 years...whatever. I have NO sympathy when those types are piled up in a ditch or in jail with their bikes impounded. I am a fan of well over 100...120...I've been 155 on the Turner Turnpike in Oklahoma many times and many other places as well. There is a realistic time for FAST! :woohoo: There is never a time for ""STUPID"" fast. BIG difference between the two. ....................................Mike

I think their normal sized balls are probably about the same size as their brains, it's not so much about being brave as opposed to being too stupid to truly comprehend the consequences of their actions. They've probably spent too much time playing video games and are confusing that with the reality of riding or driving.

The reality will (OK, might) come when they wake up in the hospital... but then again, it may never!
For some, the BRAIN FAIRY never comes!

It's a good thing they didn't have bikes like that when I was a teenager or I would have likely embedded myself in something.
I told my roommate that this is why we have reached the age we are. Were a bit more reserved now.

I dunno if these kids are rich, I guess it depends on what your definition of "rich" is. you can finance a bike for a fraction of what most folks pay on their car payment. or staight up buy a CBR 1000 a couple years old for 6-8k
From someone that lane splits 5 days a week; If you do it in a conscientious and pragmatic matter it is statistically safer than staying in traffic. If you have never lane split I don't think you can really judge it. It one of those things that looks sketchy until you do it. There is a reason the CHP endorsed a bill to fully legalize it a couple years ago, and a reason it is legal pretty much everywhere else in the world.
