Bike of the Month.

That’s a beautiful Zephyr! 

I know I am late this month but been real busy and I had to do some digging to get the lowdown on this absolutely stunning monster from zed1015, this is one of my all time favourite bikes ever.Quick spec of motor - Dry blocked 1000A cases + gearbox. welded Z900 crank. 8-1 comp 1075 wiseco's. 1000 J head ,eight plugged/gasflowed/skimmed 1.3mm. std cams dialled in at 110 deg. blower geared for 8 to 10 psi boost for running in. plus all the usual APE/Liska/Falicon/Orient express/Camellia/PMC/Dyna and my own bits'n'bobs here and there.This show's bracing around swingarm pivot area and also rubber mounted catch tank i've just done.
Also the new swing arm spindle is of a larger dia than original so i rigged up a special cutter (that used the pivot as a guide) to machine out the frame pivot inserts, I then turned up some larger dia replacements and welded them in.

I didn't know you were going to feature this so i'd better add a couple of pics and more info to show the recent updates since the main makeover i did earlier this year.
The Devil silencer and Suzuki GSX1400 rear shocks have just been replaced at the weekend with some proper Ohlins and a more suitable Yoshi can alongside a revised hanger to complete the look.


I'm constantly fine tuning the carburation when the weather permits and have now fitted a Powerjet to the dreadful S&S carb which adds a third circuit and fourth means of adjustment which has made a massive improvement to the fueling and rideability alongside a heavier Z1000 crank who's inertia balances out the low rpm drag from the blower and now allows a smooth idle speed. 


The J head has been replaced with an earlier 1000 head and the blower pullies swapped to increase the blower speed so i now get instant boost when the throttle is opened and there is also a home brewed inverted lock up clutch i cobbled together hiding inside the clutch hub.
 

Once the good weather passes i've also got a nice set of GPZ1100A Unitrack cams waiting ready to drop in over winter which should perk it up a little more next year.
These projects are never really finished

Been wanting to do this one for a while but struggled to find the time to got through the build thread.- I guessed you would be OK with it
