Are you an AMA member?

Fellas, I've been an AMA member since 2000 because I can't race an AMA event without their card. I have never used any of the other benefits associated with the club.

How many of you are members, and why? Do you race? Have you used the other benefits?

The reason I ask, as I get older, flattrack racing becomes even more hazardous to my health and I will have to hang it up one year soon. Is there a real benefit to membership if you don't race?

I joined many years ago myself beings I also needed to be a member to enter drag racing events at the time. I am now a life member but have never used any of the "perks". I became a life member to support "the cause". The purpose of the membership is a good idea although I never got that involved with the AMA per se.

I also have not used any of the 'perks' offered and joined strictly to support the efforts of a pro-motorcycle lobby...lord knows motorcyclists, in general, need lawmakers in their corner...if those wankers in DC had their druthers, they'd switch the entire country to E85 tomorrow.

I've been a member for the last nine years. Member number 740243.

The only direct benefit I've ever used was to get a reduced admission to the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Columbus. OH.

Thanks. On the all too brief 10 mile test ride I was very impressed. When I got into motorcycling I jumped straight to my vintage KZ. Never owned a modern bike before. This should be fun.

The only perk I've used is AMA members get a discount from BikeBandit but every little bit helps.
