If UPS decides they want to lose my cams I guess I can bolt some BS34's to it and use it for a boat anchor.

I think the material that fell out of the ports end up on the cam end seal area. I got new Pingel end seals and they are to narrow to fit. They have a .2575" I.D. and the end of the head is .275- .280" thick, can I just sand some of the thickness off the outside of the head or what?

if the boots are soft you should be fine, allthough i usually smear a little clear silicone on them and let it tack up before installing the boots .

the end seals are bought are aluminum so I either have to make them fit or buy stockers.

Andy... My Fast-By-Gas aluminum caps had to be tweaked as well... In my case, too tall, so just filed/sanded down to deck height, all good....
I originally had used high temp sealer, worked ok but not perfect, some minor seepage... Then it hit me, engine case sealer.... Hmmmm, works for sealing between cases should work here right...... Worked perfectly where it's thin enough to not add increased height and seals like a charm...
BTW, that head is sure purdy... Too bad your going to use it in your build and get it all oily.... I'll send my dirty 1000 head to you, send me yours....

As mentioned, we are all in the same boat. I had a leaky head gasket I wanted to change, turned into a redone top end and new paint, new tires, dynojet etc. I rode it for a year and am stripping it for a bigger rebuild/redesign.
