So this is what I have done since my last post...
1. bought a dyna s ignition and new coils from z1enterprises.
2. got the motor apart
3. new engine gaskets from ebay
4. bought new bolts for the whole bike.
5. just won a bid and paid for a 6" over swingarm
6. found someone to powder coat parts for cheap (including prep work)
I still want to get a new piston kit from ape (1075?), fiberglass tail section from airtech, and maybe a new custom cafe racer tank from BCR. I also want to put some pics up once I figure out how to decrease the size of the pics that I have taken. I'll figure it out and post up the pics today some time.

Re: What to do......

So I've managed to find a 6" over swingarm off a drag bike and it does fit bit I don't think that it fits the concept that I was looking for. I'm now thinking of doing a monoshock conversion. I've seen a lot of people using suzuki gsxr swingarms and I found a gsx600 katana swingarm on ebay for sale. Does anyone know how it will fit? Or should I just look for a the gsxr swingarms? I've been tols that the gs110e swingarms would give me the swingarm extension that I have been looking for but I haven't been able to find on online anywhere. Any thoughts?

Running a GS1100E arm on my 82.Pretty much plug and play.If u go Zuki,U will need Suzuki shocks as the arm requires the clevis type shocks. If u monoshock, dont need to worry about that even. All thats needed is a bit of shimming to ensure chain is running true.2 inch extension,2 inch seat height drop-which I assume can be restored with longer shocks if u want to .I think Otakar on this site used Hardleys on his.Again if u monoshock,u can adjust seat height as u go.bj

Alright guys.... I'm in a bit of a bind here and I just wondering if you guys could give me some of your knowledge. In an attempt to separate the engine cases I managed to crack the lower case. I have been looking on ebay for a replacement and I was just wondering if there were the 82 j model lower case would work with the cylinders? I'm not too sure but should I just stick with trying to find cases from another 77-80?

Re: What to do......

I'm located in Manitoba, Canada. I was trying to separate the cases and managed to crack the case and then in a fit of rage managed to make things worse and broke off the other screw hole out. I'll post a pic when I find out where my camera went. I did think of getting it welded. Would it be cheaper to buy used cases or get it welded? I'm not the most mechanically inclined person and this is my first project (which I'm sure will be the first of many...). I had some trouble getting the alternator off and tried to use a bearing and the front axle to get it off. The manual says to use the fork cap cover but anything that was "fork-related" that I tried didn't fit the tread pattern or the bolt diameter. Any suggestions?

So I know that it has been some time since I have been on here. I have started working on the bike again. I got lucky and got a free 97 gsxr1100 parts bike from a co-worker's husband because they were leaving the province. I'm still looking at doing the monoshock conversion and I was wondering about the primary sprocket. What kind of off set am I going to need on it?
