Yeah OMR, I lusted over some of those pipes on PMC for a while. Until I punched those prices into a currency converter website. Woah Baby! Four figure exhaust. Too rich for my blood.

Titanium or Stainless for that matter become extremely tricky....
example... Put too much heat to stainless and it becomes carbon steel... We use to run into this all the time in welding... Inspectors walk by with a magnet, it sticks, you're screwed... cut it out and start all over...

I love the series one and series two pipes from Yoshi. The only thing I dont like about them is that you have to remove the centerstand and the fact that you cant get to the oil filter without removing it. What I want to do is to take an old Kerker header and make a Yoshimura stile pipe for it. I have the header already and they are still easily gotten. You can also make a pipe for a MAC header, since those Yoshis were made by MAC to begin with. I have a series two on one of my Z1Rs and a series three on my 74 Z1. I also bought another series three on eBay about two years ago. If you aren't familiar with the series three, they look like a Kerker "K" series with the Aluminum Cannister.

"take an old Kerker header and make a Yoshimura stile pipe for it."...
I had thought about that as well Otto... Would be easier no doubt...
But as I got more into researching this I fell in love with the idea of hand bending my own "Curved" header and Yoshi looking tail exahust... How cool would that be to pull off...
And in accomplishing my self, as in the Kerker design, leave just enough clearance to remove the oil filter. Since neither of my KZ's have a center stand so not concerned with that. Oil filter access is a must though....
I've been looking at sevral design concepts for the baffles.... Interesting to say the least... Nopt sure which way to go right now, still researching more info regarding hole patterns, baffle twist.... may even just design for a Kerker 1.5" baffle and be done with it...
Ah well, not in a hurry.... All in due time I guess...

The Yosh is 3" diameter at the end of the collector, and the tailpipe is 3" front to back. The Kerker is somewhat smaller at the end of the collector, and the the tailpipe flares to 4" or so. Not sure exactly, but both are hanging in the garage. I'll try to get it measured too.

What I am wondering about is the cost of all the pipe and how much of it will be ruined by trial and error. If you are thinking about a baffle, just buy one from MAC and modify the rings. Their baffles are very good.

If you read all of the old write-ups on the Yoshi, you will notice that it was one of the poorest performing pipes out there (even though it looked so good)so some changes in pipe diameter might be good. The MAC on the other hand today, is a very good performing pipe for the street. It has a fantastic mid range.

The 3" diameter of the Yosh may have indeed hurt the midrange. The Kerker collector is 2.5" and my V&H was even smaller. Anyway, the Yosh baffle rings are 2 13/16", the baffle tube is 1 1/4" o.d. and is 9" long. The MAC baffle with this diameter of rings may be the way to go.
