I remember that Moriwaki on that Blue kz on the cover of CMM a few months back was particularly sick.
Yoshimura ( Pops & Fujio days) hand bent the pipes seen on most of their superbikes, especially on the Zuks. The pipe from the catalogue was the street version sold by Yoshimura and Dale Star who owned the Yosh name/product line for a while in the 70's.
Moriwaki had the nicest hand bent pipes for the Z imho.and looked a lot like the one posted by OMR.

holy, somewhere in there I saw that he is able to sell them for only $399. If you can make the rounded ones for a price as affordable as that you can certainly count me in too!

$400... Please do check on that out for that price, I'd buy them from him as well versus making my own....
Kinda takes the fun out of it but..... let's be serious for a moment, alloy piping is expensive so I doubt I can beat that price.

I think his are steel though right? I looked again and it says his price is 399...not sure if thats gone up. Would the titanium or alloy be for weight savings or corrosion resistance?
maybe do a few in steel for practice? I personally would be more inclined to get a steel one and ceramic coat it.
Would you put OMR in japanese looking script in red and white as the logo :woohoo:

Got that issue for Christmas. Couldn't believe the owner trashed the MKll bodywork and replaced it with Z stuff though!! Bonehead, lol. The nicest Moriwaki bikes were his MKll's.Close second to the bike Lawson rode in the 200 at Daytona, didn't finish.

All right, I haven't been able to find the sand bending article I mentioned before but here's a general guide:
1. Get some sand (regular sand-box sand will work)
i)Make sure the sand is dry, put it in your oven for a while if you need to make sure. If sand is wet and you start heating up the pipe, you can make yourself a nice little pipe bomb.
ii) I have also seen one guy who swears by 120g silica carbide and says that it gives him much better results than sand.
2. Cap (securely) one end of your pipe that you'll be bending. Pour in your sand or silica carbide and tap the closed end of the pipe on the ground to pack the sand tightly. Fill to the top and pat it down and add more until you're sure it's packed tight.
3. Seal the other end of the pipe.
Edit: some guys also like to use a movable cap on this end, such as wooden doweling or the like, so that you can pound it in more during the bending process if the sand starts moving around and loosening up
4. Put pipe in a vice or secure it in some other way. Apply heat to what will be the outside edge of your bend only for a slow, steady bend and start bending!
5. Hide from your wife when she finds sand everywhere
This is a very basic walkthrough and the other articles that have been posted will be much more comprehensive. Good luck!
