Re: Date this picture

The picture was take in March 2001. Those two bikes are indirectly responsible for Z1 Enterprises getting started.
I had a couple of Z1's in England (see 'date this picture 2' thread), and wanted to get another one. I found one of the 73's advertised on the internet. The owner had TWO of them. So I bought both of them. They were in Dallas, so my friend (Norm Wilding - Kawabusa fame) met me there and drove them back in his pickup. On the way he was stopped a couple of times by people wanting to buy them...
In chasing parts for these bikes, it was very frustrating to deal with some of the companies out there. I struggled to get some of the basic parts. At that point I was waiting weeks to get cables, filters and other routine parts. The local Kawasaki dealers were (and still are) a joke - totally brainless uninterested people behind the parts counter. I remember one telling me parts were not available for the Z1 because it wasn't a popular bike.
So after a couple of years of chasing parts, I started buying and selling used parts, then new parts. Sadly, I had to sell the bikes to help fund Z1 Enterprises. But both went to good homes. One is still in the USA and has been expertly restored. The other is in England after spending time in Northern Ireland (ironically, the bike is about 25 miles from where I lived)

Cool story Jeff! I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we are glad you had such a bad time finding parts and then decided to do something about it. You and your staff sure make life much easier for the rest of us. The success of your company is well deserved.
