Unless you've ridden a GL1800, it is hard to imagine the handling and performance of this bike given it's size and weight. I currently have a 2002 that I bought new. To load up a bike and hit the road for a couple of weeks, you won't find a better touring bike. I don't feel beat up at the end of a 700+ mile day like I did on my KZ1000's. But I would still never be without my '78 KZ1000. It's in my blood. I currently have 4 bikes and the KZ is the last one I would sell. It just looks, feels, and sounds right to me.

Here is a pic of the 06 I bought... it does have sufficient power and handles decently once on the highway. It is still kind of lardy in parking lots but does have a reverse so the embarrassment of parking downhill is never encountered.

Looks great. They are heavy, but once underway are leaps and bounds easier to ride than the older models were.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Honda has cornered the market with the Goldwing period. No other manufacture has even come close to it. For 30 plus years the Goldwing has become the standard. Congrats George. You will love that machine for years.

Whatever fits ya! I had a friend with an '02 Wing, and he liked it, but needed a bike with more leg room. BTW, I kept up with him on my '81 650 CSR as long as I kept the RPMs near redline (up to speed limit, of course:silly:).

My 650SR keys are on the same ring as my Softail key. I did notice that when I put the keys in my pocket latley I get oil in my pocket.
I got a GoldWing and a SilverWing sitting right next to my 3 Kaws. They seem to get along just fine. A Zuki and a Triumph share another cell. Bikes get along just fine it's just people that don't.

I gotta say that for long rides, the bigger the better, and for that I prefer the 78 naked wing. But for response and dependability, the KZ rules.
I guess it's what feels good under the cheeksB)
