it definitly is a clean/nice lookin bike i think it would be a shame to bust it up,but it seems like no one wants to pay decent $$$ these days for older bikes, unless they are all original and pre 1976

Thanks for the feedback, KZ folks. I appreciate it. Tearing it apart would take a lot of time. I suppose I'll list it for sale in the Spring here and on Craigslist and see what happens.
I've nothing against the bike, per se. I would just like something newer.

I'd have to disagree with that statement. Given the right place and the right time a 76 KZ 900 will bring good money. I sold this one at Mid-Ohio within the first 3 hours of arriving to a guy from Denmark for $2400.00. It was original, low mileage and ran well but it needed help in the cosmetics department. I also did not have a title for it. When this pic was taken the new owner had already replaced one of the missing side covers and replaced the ugly non stock seat with a new repro seat.

True, that KZ900 I sold was completely stock but the picture made it look better than it actually was. It was a nice basis for a total resto but the buyer was looking at having to spend a lot of money to get it really nice.
That bike was one of a pair I bought for $1050.00, I was asking $3000.00 for it but I wasn't willing to screw around over a few hundred bucks. Having cash in fist after only 2 or 3 hours of being there made me real happy. You can't see it in the pic but the dyno cover was rashed and the rectifier was toast as well.
