Just bought another KZ1000. pics
15 Mar 2008 14:50
Had a guy email me a few days ago in response to the posting I have on craigslist "looking for KZ". So today we met up and I came home with a real steal. 80 KZ1000 LTD, 35,000 miles, chrome Kerker 4 into 1, carbs rejetted, K&N filter. Also came with nice original exhaust, nice luggage rack with back rest, saddle bags, windshield, repair manual and a box of extra parts. It is a Arizona bike so no rust. Runs good but will need the carbs cleaned. It is painted 74 Porsche silver, kind of like gun metal. Had a gas spill on the tank so it will need to be repainted but he gave me a pint of the paint he used. So I got the running bike with title and all parts for $800. She goes on the sales block in a few days and should make a good profit. Here are a few pics. Man am I tempted to keep it

Well Shane you've just given Kawsakiman another good reason to hate you. He still isn't over your last score on the smoothbores and cylinder head. Niiiice find, if it were me I'd probably sell off all the extra parts and accessories and keep it. I love it when I end up with a nice bike for little money. I'm sure you know you could own that one for a few years and not lose any money on it.
Edit: Damn I just re-read your post and noticed you said you got the original exhaust too. Forget about Kawsakiman you are on my I hate you list too.

I need another bike like I need a hole in the head. I promised my wife that this would be a quick sell. I would much rather have the $1200 or so profit at this point plus whatever I could make off of the extra parts. I am sure I can find another one some day if I want. I will be taking it for a ride tomorrow to see how she runs. Then I will clean it up and get ready to sell. I will post a video too if anyones want to see it.

Yep, pull the carbs, clean them and move the needle, replace the Kerker w/ the original pipes, sell the Kerker outright ...make a serious profit...or I'll pay shipping and send that sweetheart down here:)

Looks like used Kerker exhaust do not sell for much on ebay, $100-150. The original exhaust looks like it would be worth about the same. I think the bike will be more appealing with the Kerker still on it.

That is definitely a steal of a deal you got there Shane! :woohoo:
I'd be more than just tempted to keep it and sell off the extra goodies too.

Note to self.. do not go to Steve's place alone. Took the bike out for a few miles today. Runs pretty good but needs a little tweaking. Still need to clean the carbs, lube the throttle cables and bring in the clutch a little bit. Sure was a cold ride. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr
