Father and Son's bike in show this weekend.
15 Feb 2008 09:37
My son Trent and I are in Tulsa for the 44th Daryl Starbird Rod and Custom Show. Trent has his beautifully Restored 1972 Suzuki TS185 Sierra and I took my beater. Spent Wednesday evening building the larger display and getting things ready for the trip and the show. I think I got 2 hours sleep. Thursday, set up. Took about 5 hoursto setup and clean the bikes. (I can't believe how dirty my KZ was).
I stuck mine in "Competition Bikes" so not to have to compete with Trent in "Motorcycle Street".
About 5pm the 918 Riders Club showed up with 10-12 Hyabusa's, GSXR1000's and numerous liter bikes with extended swingarms and lots of BLING! All of them entered in "Motorcycle Street" Needless to say Trent was a little down over it.
OK here are the pics. (I would have taken pics of the Busa's and GSXR's, but they all look the same.)
Damn, that green shows up good...

That's great Richard.
I'm glad to see my son taking an interest in it like yours does.

Where is that being held? I recall hearing that show advertised when I lived down south.

Your bike is beautiful. I hope mine turns out that nice.
I think it's great you are doing this stuff with your son. I'm sure he'll always look back fondly on these times. I get a big kick just watching my ten-year-old ride his XR around the yard. I hope he gets into the wrenchin part too.
Good luck with the show.

Expo Square Pavillion at the Fairgrounds in Tulsa.
Big place. About 1000 entries, monster truck races and MX bike stunts all inside thesame building.

I think its cheaper to enter a car or bike in the show. A 1 day ticket is 15 or 17 bucks. However, with each bike we got two 3 day passes for $25.00.

Bristow OK. I think I ate BBQ with the Moto Guzzi bunch there last summer. Good eats and a fun ride. I rode from Wichita to eat lunch. Left there rode to Branson and got home late back in Wichita all in the same day. My A$$ still hurts from it. The last 70 miles from Fredonia was in a downpour.
Ahh Good times....

Well, it went as figured. Nothing older than a 2001 won anything in a motorcycle category. With one exception.
My KZ won in "Motorcycle Competition" and Trent's bike was beat by a bunch of newer Hyabusa's and GSXR's in "Motorcycle Street".
We got home late from the long weekend. My 3 year old daughter got sick while we were there. Made for a stressful weekend.
