Bike names.....
21 Nov 2007 13:37
Wondering if I had a problem or if it affects others?
Personally my bikes name is Ronnie... and if you have ever seen the movie Run Ronnie Run.... then thats kinda why.
Lately however it has taken on another meaning because he wont start...so I am either whispering Run Ronnie Run... or kicking the **** out of the concrete.

my 650's name is sara
nothing special, just my oldest daughter used to make me watch " the land before time" every saturday morning.
the girl dinosaur's name is sara and when it came time to name her, katie was three and told me to name her sara.
guess that's her name forever.
the 1000 is waiting for a name from my youngest.
who knows about the 1100?
just look at my signature line.
like reborn650 says, i either need to have more kids or stop collecting bikes.

I don't know why, the name just seems to fit it.

I've always named my sports cars. My Sunbeam Alpine was "Eddie the Eagle;" sold it earlier this year.
My Jensen Interceptor is "The Highway Star."
home.hiwaay.net/~tjhiggin/hwystar.html
One day I'll have a Jensen-Healey or Jensen GT and will name it the "Byway Star."
But I've never named any of my bikes. Odd...

My '78 KZ650-B2 is named "Blue" for it's blue paint.
I know, I know, not very original. :pinch:
But I'm thinking on changing it to "Timex', because I don't think I could kill this bike (among other things, over 30K w/out a valve adjustment and less than 80psi of comp on #2 cyl due to severly worn rings - should be addressing it all this winter) even if I tried! :woohoo:
My '84 ZN700 is named "Lazarus".
Trust me, after sitting out in the weather (blistering sun in summer, rain and snow in winter, and high winds every danged day!) for 8+ years in the upper desert here in So Calif, it was far beyond dead when I got it.

My girlfriend named my 74 900, When ever we go out for a ride, she always says i wanna ride on the old kawi 9. This is a good thing for me because the old girl (the motorcycle), always pulls hard, and my girlfriend always hangs on a little bit tighter.

Re: Bike names.....

The only names that have ever stuck on any of my collection is the '78 Z1R has always been called "The Zurr" ...my buddy's wife called it that way back in the day when I first got it, she pronounced the 'Z' and the 'R' together. And the recent J/GPz conversion into an ELR replica has claimed the un-original name of "The Clone"...but other than that, the rest of the pigs in the barn are just that. I suspect the CB9/11F will earn some form of Freddie Spencer-type of name, but it's a few months away from completion...at best.

Retrorocketricerider named mine appropriately THE MOSSBEATER years back, but mossbeater was too slow so i sold it.
Dang thing had 1.5 inches of moss growing out the filters.
see link in signature.
now all i have is a kz750e and i just call it my bike.
