Bike jackets in tall sizes?
08 Nov 2007 13:02
I'm trying to find some cold weather gear. I'm looking for a touring jacket that fits me. I'm 6'5", and go 260. I'm going to need something on the order of a 3x or 4x-tall.
Can anyone help?
The pic below is of a FirstGear kilimanjaro. It would be perfect, except they don't make it in tall sizes larger than 2x. At least it shows what I'm looking for.

I run into problems going the other way. I am SHORT and round.
Yesterday, I was down in So. Cal on business, and I had some extra time between appointments. I was out near San Bernardino, and I remembered there was a great M/C shop that I used to go to when I lived down there 10+ years ago called Chapparal Motorsports. I decided to go see if they were still there. Not only were they still there, I think they expanded the size of their store by at least double, from what I remember. This place was HUGE. They had a tremendous selection of bikes, accessories, apparel, etc.
So I thought if a jacket that fit me existed, THEY would have it. No luck. Everything I could find that fit me around the middle had sleeves that were too long. The elbow armor was protecting my forearms. :S
I could pull the sleeves up and tighten the velcro around the wrist, but the sleeves bunched up, especially on my upper arm. That wasn't going to work.
Very frustrating.

i have a Kilamanjaro in large/tall. i am 6'7" 200lbs, and while good in the sleeves i would like it to be just a tad longer, but i have gotten use to clothes not fitting. Aerostich can alter their pants and jackets, but it does get costly. and for really cold weather riding, like below 30 F i would not recommend the Kilamanjaro, even with the liner you will be a bit cold.

Do it right or don't bother doing it at all.
