Do not hesitate...leave now and buy this bike...$1750 is a very good price...a set of 1977 original stock pipes alone just sold on eBay for US$850:)

Excellent point...when you do go and see this bike, check the frame and motor VIN to see if they are in range. Take some good photos of a stock KZ1000A1 to compare. With respect to the 1979/80 dyno cover and the owners comment of 'original and unmolested', this either says he/she doesn't know much about this bike/history OR is not being entirely truthful...perhaps to include other statements, e.g. mileage, etc.

Looks nice although green was not an option in 1977 so it's either a repaint or swapped on bodywork. Looks well worth the price.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Looks like the stock 77 color to me....
2 colors for the 77 "A" model - a dark red(maroon) and a dark green(maybe could call it bluegreen?)

From the pics the color looks correct to me. My neighbor bought one new back in early '77 and it was identical to the bike shown.

Given that I live in Canada there might have been a different paint scheme than those sold in the U.S. Perhaps this is where some of the confusion may be.

same story here... my kz was that color when I bought it. i dropped it and repainted it black, however. let us know what happens with the bike... that's not a bad price! just to make you jealous... i bought mine in nearly spotless condition, truly unmolested for $1000 =D Got lucky...

Nice looking bike. The color question is interesting. Kawasaki.com parts diagrams show the tank colors for the A1 ('77) as "D. Wine Red" and "D. Sky Blue" and shows colors for the A2 and A2a ('78) "L. Green", "L. Red", and "Ebony." Could the green '77s have been non-U.S. or maybe a late '77 addition? Maybe the VIN numbers would show a pattern. Ed

interesting question... could always just be a body swap... i bought mine used, but it was factory green... pretty color too, kind of a dark green.

I was working for a Kawasaki dealer back when that bike was new, the paint on that bike is the correct stock color for that model year. The color was sort of a blueish green.
