Sorry, I don't mean to divert the thread but...

rstnick,
Outstanding dsign! A real study in simplicity and functionality with easily available materials and tools that can be implemented with typical skill levels.

I love these KISS designs. Good stuff! :)

ronjones,
Can't beat the price but sounds as if you need to look carefully at the capacity of your design. The "$2 for lag bolts to repair garage door supports" line may be trying telling you something. Stay safe in there.

Actually, Bill, that $2 item was a bit of tongue and cheek;). I'll definately be making sure that my lift attachment point is much more secure, when I need to raise it again, than I may have indicated.

The wood stand looks good, but I don't wanna push my 1000 up it! I think I'll go for the real thing.

So noone has complaints about the Harbor Freight lifts I guess...?

Yeah,

I have a complaint about the Harbor Freight Lift!

It's made in China!

I suppose you can't take my rant too seriously since I have one as well. Actually I like it fine, but I've decided that it's time to cut off the Chinese manufactured trash conduit.

I've made the decision to cut off anything Chinese. I think the rest of the world should do the same until working conditions and quality are brought up to the standards of the importing country.

Free Trade Bah HumBug!

Of course the same can be said for many of the "Third World" countries but for the present the Chinese are at the fore front.

I have the same lift but mine is foot pump operated. I love it. I wish I had gotten it years ago.

I've got a Harbor Freight lift, too. Foot pump operated. Works great, and the wheels let you roll it on a garage floor (if it's clean).
Problem is, my Voyager likes it so much, it won't get off!

Is there a way to lock the lift at a particular level or does the hydraulic pressure hold it in position? Does it have front tire holder and/or a drop out tray in back so you can remove the rear tire? Or is it just a one-piece platform?

we have the harbor freight lift at school, and honestly, i hate it. narrow, wobbly, leaky, and poor wheel lock. for the money it is better that nothing, but if you get use to the good ones, the HF one looks like a dangerous piece of junk. just my opinion not flaming anyone.

It has a very wimpy front tire holder, and a stop so you don't drive it off the front. You have to use tie downs (not shown in my pic, sorry).
Yes, it has a removable panel under the rear tire.
