Well, the tank arrived - inside has a bit of surface rust, but I would expect that from a tank it's age anyway. No visible damage and the paint looks original, no touchups or the like.

Now just have to start stripping it for the projects it was bought for :)

And the other tank is about 8mpg

And you wouldn't have to worry about parking when you got there either ;)

The tank won't get 8mpg, more like 2 probably at best. The last picture there reminds me of Granby, CO about 60 miles from here. A guy very, very angry with the political situation somehow bought a tank, encased it in armor plate steel and cement and went out and tried to destroy who he blamed for all the problems. Ran over a few buildings, various cars ect. Was eventually killed by the police. Had his revenge though.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

That sounds like that James Garner movie, Tank!

Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

That happened in Cali a while back, some National Guard (I think) dude went crazy, stole a tank, ran it up and down the freeway smashing cars and only stopped when it hung up on the center divider.

I remember that one, he tried to knock down a bridge, then got the tank stuck on the centre divider, the police jumped on top, bold cuttered the hatch and told him to stop or else. He chose or else and they fired one round in from a pistol which entered his shoulder, ricocheted round a bit inside his ribcage and he died.

All we were told over here was that he was disgruntled....

I was watching that clip one day with an ex-tanker co-worker. He said the police didn't have to kill him... there is a big fire control handle on the side of the tank. When pulled, it kills the fuel and ignition systems, and floods the cabin with Halon. I thought he was full of it, but he pulled up the manual online, and there it was! If only they'd known!

Uh-oh, homeland security will be turning up on your door to arrest you in case that information falls into the wrong hands.

That tank is a military vehicle and not all Cops are Military. So I can understand not knowing about the handle.

Looks like the Tank driver lived out, although be it quite short, a fantasy he had, some things are best left as fantasies.
