Thanks Joe, I have tried to use this project to push myself to learn new skills and also show that you "can have nice" without spending the earth if you put the effort in. I reckon when all done I will have spent around what you pay (in the UK at least) for a tired but useable 70's "Z"

It all looks great to me. Isn't painting in a shed fun!

...And constantly counting or calculating money is boring, isn't it? The result is what counts, not the total investment!

(For me personally, it's always important that everything works for me, that it functions well and correctly, and that I like it. I don't usually follow the crowd or the opinions of others, but then again, I'm not really a herd animal anyway

I agree Wookie, "In a warped, masochistic kind of way". One must work with what one has access to. I have painted a couple of cars in an old shed/garage and understand just what you have experienced. There is an old saying that goes something like necessity is the mother of invention? If one needs to paint inside instead of outside (which has it own set of issues) and a shed is all that you have then you paint in a shed with all that it entails.As I said the end result looks great to me and now you know you can do so in a shed.

Looks like a fine job you did there! I find its always more satisfying to say you did it on your own no matter how it turns out.

How was the temperature and humidity in your "booth"?

I recently did a fender repair paint job on a car in my garage but it was about 17C in there, today we had our first snowfall (5cm) that's sticking to the grass

If you want to improve your skills, I have a set to paint for my Z (like the one in the thumbnail). 😄

With the water-based colours temp was around 20c (around 11c outside and raining all week) not sure about the humidity but would have been high initially as water-based relays on air flow to flash off. The only way I could create flow was to prop the side door open (allowing damp air in) Once I got the de-humidifier in there (around 65%) the flash off reduced from a couple of hours to around 40mins. With the clear I heated to around 20c then turned the heater off (three bar electric patio heater so would have blown the place up) once the air cleared after shooting the clear I put the heater back on for the rest of the day
