Thank you. I did notice a small dimple in the stud. I saw an installation tool sold at KZ Zone. It was a nut with a set screw to lock it on the stud. Thank you for the advice. I’ll use your method. Another Old School trick!!!

Hey, you're welcome, Matt! Happy to share whatever useful knowledge that I might have if it can be of help to somebody. And, that KZ Zone stud install tool is pretty sweet - wasn't aware that it existed. A nice design, for sure..

Also, one last comment on using the factory head nut/ball bearing technique -- once you have the stud installed, you may need to grip it lightly so that you can back the head nut off without loosing your torque spec on the stud. If so, I just use a piece of thick brass shim stock around the stud and a pair of vise grips. The brass keeps the teeth of the vise grips from marring the stud. Just a small detail, but I'm kind of fussy with my stuff :) ....

Hey, Mike, you're welcome. I'm one of those "old school, old guys" myself! I wish I could remember where I picked up that head nut w/ballbearing trick, but it was about 25 years ago(!). Time flies....

Car guys used that trick years ago for installing rocker arm studs. The nut with the set screw was also used to set rocker arm to valve clearance and worked much better than a jam nut to set valves. What's old really can be new sometimes.

Thanks for reminding me where I had seen the kz zone tool before. It’s basically identical to the adjustment nut used on roller rocker setups.... I knew it looked familiar but old timers took over.

Just a quick PSA here. I took the boxed up cases to a UPS store. They claimed the box wasn’t strong enough for the weight, and shipping would be $49 dollars, with an additional $50 to repackage it. The package is only going 4 hours to the west side of the same State. I told them I could drive it there myself for less than $99.00. Upon advice fo the Vapor Hone gentleman that’s doing the work I took the same box to a UPS Hub. Only 30 minutes from the UPS store.... $26 no questions ask and it will be at the Vapor hone shop in one day...

The UPS store is a total rip-off. But you can buy and print your own shipping label from UPS.com and you should be able to drop it at a UPS store if that's the closest drop-off location.

Finally got a call from the plater. My rear rim, headlight fork ears, rear brake stay and miscellaneous hardware are finally done. Almost 4 months to the day. I post on June 27 th they we going out. He’s old school so I’m mailing a check. I won’t have them for a week or so depending on transit time... good that they are finally done.

I had a deal fall through about 2 weeks ago on a set of Doremi aftermarket exhaust. The seller wanted $900. But before I could make travel plans to pick them up he called and said he was keeping them for a Z1B he just picked up. We I just made an ever better deal. Like it’s mentioned. Another door opens when one closes. No Introduction needed. Look at the following pictures.

Damn! those never were cheap. I'm not sure when they changed from the yellow tags on service parts, but I think it's probably been ten years ago by now. The number under the muffler assy script 000473-39-45 means suggested retail is $473.45 with a 39% mark up! I wonder how many $ worth I threw away that got scratched during assembly? Never quite got the hang out of polishing scratches out of chrome.(got pretty good at polishing aluminum though)
