Thanks Wayne. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I really like the contrast in your engine. That's the look I'm going for. Had to paint the covers because a couple were in pretty bad shape. I'm not that patient to sand, sand, sand, polish.

Those parts look really fine, I like the colour. I believe Wayne is right that they will be easier to keep clean....it's what I will be doing, was going to go all black but now I'm not so sure, yours look good.

Thanks for the info, that will make mine easier now.
Haybus wrote: Been busy cleaning up the engine. Got some of the nice bits painted today. Messed up the clutch and dyno cover so will have to sand them back down. VHT aluminum and clear, baked at 200f for an hour. They're super shiny, but it doesn't show up that well in the pic. Hoping to paint the rest of the engine tomorow, but depends on how much longer I have to spend cleaning. Lots of nooks to scrub and rough up.

Should have my front rim back from Will's Rim Repair this week. What a great guy. Then on to the upper triple fab.

Painted the clutch and dyno covers twice now. The dyno turned out ok this time, but the clutch cover will need to be stripped and painted again. Third times a charm? I had to prime them because they were pretty scratched up. I took out the big scratches (you can see a sloped surface, upper right on the circle of the dyno), and wanted to fill in all the pits. Looked great after prime, but must have got dirty in handling. First time they both crazed/cracked after the first color coat.
Here's the parts staged on for your viewing pleasure. Waiting for my bolts and other parts/pieces to arrive from Z1. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. The engine is painted in Duplicolor engine enamel, low gloss black. When I started painting I thought, hmm, this is pretty dull, maybe I'll go get some gloss. But I think the aluminum covers make a nice contrast. Opinions?

That looks great...the only thing I might do is change the oil pan to black as it will probably get pretty dirty and it'll show. Other than that.....very sharp. Can't wait to see what the bike colours will look like next to the motor.
