i am glad that you like the idlers ant.
hate to hear about your crank.
but,if you can scratch up the cash to have pearson rebuild it the thing will last you forever.
a lil extra squish isn't going to hurt anything,it'll drop a lil bit of compression but wouldn't be noticeable unless you could dyno it before and after.
you could never tell a difference seat of the pants.
that my .02 fwiw.

Re: '77 KZ 900/1000 street/drag project

Talked to John Pearson a few days ago. We decided to do a full rebuild on my crank and replace the #5 thrust bearing. John suggested we try to use a Mark 2 center section and pin that he machined to fit a KZ900 crank and see if it works since Kawasaki no longer makes the 900 pin. Thus I will need to use the MK2 can chain and adjustable cam sprockets. The 5th gear on my trans was also toast so he replaced that. I'll post pics when I get it all back.
Edit-I forgot to mention everything is done and paid for so I'll be getting it all back very soon. The work did cost much more than I expected but it'll be worth it in the long run, although I did blow the rest of my budget. So the bike won't be done by my original due date, plus I have a son on the way.

Ha! Yeah man I was giddy as a school girl, even my kids were cheering me as I opened the box that turned into ooo's and ahhhh's since they remember what it looked like before. I can't say enough about John Pearson or his work, he is the man, easy to talk to evenif you're clueless like myself. If and when I build another bike I will be using him again.
