Was doing some mocking and measuring and ran into a hiccup. The triple mount spacing on the Ninja 1000 forks is really wide. If I space the triples at KZ width the bottom triple doesn't catch the mount area, if I slide it down enough to engage, the forks stick out a good two inches from the top.
Options appear to be:
A. different forks - additional exspense, other parts I've sourced may no longer fit
B. 2" drop custom lower triple - least work for me, greatest exspense
C. custom longer dropped headstock - possibly cheap, lots of labor, but can add a tad more rake to get wheel out where it should be

Not much happened since the last post, just lots of running out of gas because my petcock only works in the RES position and I don't have an odometer to count miles. PITA.
However, we should be seeing some shiny new bits from Les here soon.
Also debating whether to spring for an Acewell 2853, the Danmoto knockoff of it, or a set of those 2" mini gauges. A guy is selling new3" all-in-one gauges similar to the Acewell for $55 on ebay but kph only. Dunno if I can replace the face or if not can I put up with doing the conversions all the time.

a piece of wire with a slight bend that could be stashed somewhere on your bike could make for a good fuel guage /dipstick.
sounds kinda hillbilly but could keep you from running out of gas  .

I gotta say, I just really, really love what you've done with this.

Thanks Hatchet. It's nothing extreme, pretty easily replicated.
Only update of late is I added a mini speedo for Dime City Cycles. Whohoo. It's getting cold now, I may have another month of riding then I can take it off the road and swap the USD forks.

I think I'll retain the stock exhaust. It sounds pretty good and probably flows a bit better after I wacked the ends off.
It's freezing here so I should be tearing into the front end right now but I had to go and get another project to take up my time, putting a new clutch in a diesel F250. It's kind of funny going from tiny lightweight bike parts to huge heavy truck parts.
