Updated images with tank and new updates for color scheme...
If case you're wondering, I'm presently in the hold for funds phase (valve 3 way grind w/ port & polish) so just taking care of all the free but labor stuff during this period.

STOP,STOP!
Every time i look at your new posts i hve to dry the drewl out of my keyboard.
As allways,Nice work.
I am going over my tank and sidecovers today with rubbing compound and wax,AGAIN.
Be AWARE! If you spill gas on Dupicolor Metalcast paint, you MUST go directly into panic mode to save it.
My gas cap was not on tight and when i left the gas station the gas spilled out over the tank and down the side coversI stopped right away and wiped it off, but it marks the surface right away.
Please be carfull with gas around that beautifull bike.

Mark.... Did you follow up shooting a 2 part clear coat over the Metalcast as I posted on the painting of my tank?
And not can clear coat either for that crap sucks...
The Dupli-color paint products will not hold up to gas, nor did any other can paint I tried. Non of them held up nor would they and this is why clear coats
-
MUST
I even tested a Sherwin Williams paint with no clear with GAS, yes, it held up slightly better than some of the can paints I tested but it did tarnish as well where rubbing compound would be required.
Again, paint alone will not hold up to gas...
I also tested can clear coats, non held up as well as a 2 part clear shot... I understand you can now buy clear in a can with a breakable hardner in it but as posted, the Prevail unit works very well for those w/out a gun and compressor.
@Bad Kaw,
Yeah, wasn't sure of the front end chrome effect either. I'm pretty sure I'll be painting the controls and head light the metallic orange to match the tank...

That’s right; I forgot that u used the 2 part clear cote.
I painted mine 2 years ago. i used a high heat engine clear on mine, because it said it was gas resistant. Obviously its not VERY gas resistant. Anyways i hope my comments will be a good heads up for those who read this post and they will do as u did.
it is too late for me to use the 2 part clear , as my tank has many chips on it already. I need to start over now.
i will likely use automotive paint next time. it is just too hart breaking to go through this again. But, on a positive note. I am glad in a way, that i did this with the spray can. I don’t think it is possible to get every thing on the bike done right the first time. So I wont feel so bad when I have ruin the paint to have another part welded on here or there or modified slightly, since I didn’t pay a fortune for the pain job.

mark1122: Love ya my KZ brother....
I didn't say anything prior to this so figured this is a primo time to post. 3 months ago, I spray painted some angle Iron using the metal cast ground coat (metal flake primer) and Metal cast color for the EXTREME test.... Arizona summers!!!
For those of you that don't know AZ summers, 100-115 degree heat then we get Monsoons. The results in the image where taken ~ 5 minutes ago... And this is with no clear coat what so ever....
This piece has been sitting in direct sunlight, been rained on, dust storms you name it etc... No blistering, no peeling etc...
As posted numerous times, I post the good and the bad results, so no need to inform you otherwise...
CLEAR COAT your paint jobs....

Wet sand the clear coat down to the paint then shoot the 2 part clear... Example, In my tank, I thought I had to buff out the paint prior to clear... Not so... The black was like gray in color and when the clear hit it it shined like a SonsABitch.
Worth a try... Hopefully were not speaking of you're latest pictures/paint work (Blue/Black/Gray).

That looks like it stood up well.
My chips are in the red paint so u can see the silver coat underneath. i also have cracked glass like cracks all through the front of the tank.this may be due to useing the engine clear cote? any ways i will have to start over at some time.
My bike is red . This 1.

As always great work and progress.
Now that they are polished go I vote for black anodizing.
