Sorry, its not a KZ.
Many of you remember the 1972 Suzuki TS185 that my 9 year old son restored last summer.

I bought him another project. he will get it for Christmas.
1973 Suzuki GT250K

I paid $375 for it ona regional auction site. Good title and it run last year before being stored inside.

I almost can't wait to give it to him.

so where are you hiding it so he don't see it till x-mas?
not for nothing but i always found the presents before x-mas.

oh yeah, i remember how your son got hosed in that little build off and even though he did a damm fine job in the last one, he needs to go the extra mile for a ujm to win this time.

if he does half as good with this one as he did with the last one, he is still doing better then me at this point in time!
i want you to show him this post after christmas and tell him how everyone here is proud of him for the damm fine job he did with the other one and we want him to take pictures of his work and post them.

you must be real proud of him. the boy has talent!
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

I rented a storage unit 5 miles from home. No one knows about it. Not even his mother...
I'll do a little clean up on it and tie a bow around it for its unveiling Christmas Morning.

I can't wait to ride it. If it runs as well as the TS185 I will have to buy something like it for myself.

I think it will go nicely with my 1972 GT750J Lemans. I bought it 18 years ago in original condition and just recently started to disassemble it.

Great looking bike. I picked up the same bike a few weeks ago. Runs great but no title. I will be parting it out soon so if you need any parts just let me know.

Thank You for the heads up on parts.

They do not have tons of compression so they are very eay to kick start. Does take some getting used to though

Richard:
Fine looking GT250. Just a quick word on that particular
model. The carb slides were made longer so that even at WOT they still hang partially down into the bores of the carbs. This was done to help with meeting DOT noise specs. You can pull the slides out and machine them down to get back to the '72 and earlier spec with a little more go.
Oh....and the left side kick start thing. All the early-design twins had left side kickers. That started with the 250's and then the 500's and 350's. Nothing unusual there. They ALL had that unique feature. Who knows why Suzuki did such a thing.....I sure don't.

Richard: wow...dude, you're a pretty cool dad. Well done on you.
Also: do tell the young man that we are indeed impressed with his work and we are looking forward to this next project.
