Building a GPZ1150 from a CSR1000

Here is a clear difference on a before and after exhaust port exit.

The polishing will come next. This is done in the exhaust so the soot will not stick as much, and in the intake so any imperfections can bee seen and fixed. I will have pictures of the polishing next time. I made a special tool to do that job very efficiently and it works great.

This is the piston I am matching with this head. 12.5:1 starting compression but after the cams and head work I will be down to 10.5:1 These pistons are made by "Venolia" in sunny California and are a modified set of 1975 "Datsun 1200" pistons. These are not "off the shelf", they will make the engine a 1150 and I will use the stock slaves. These pistons will also have "ceramic" crowns and Molly skirts done on them. I don't want to go any bigger on a bike which is an every day rider, plus the 1150 will leave plenty of wall thickness in the sleeves for good engine cooling. I will also install an oversize oil cooler to help with this task.

This was about the most "Un-Fun" job I had to do. Definitely not my favorite.
