Pics from a couple weeks ago...

Got the side covers mounted. The lower mounts will be finished after the braces are welded in which has to be fitted after the cross brace is finish welded. iconwhistle The covers were originally suppose to be bolted on but I though that would look kinda tacky so I enlarged the holes to take D-zus fasteners. I cut off the stock cover mounts a few years ago so I kinda mocked everything up and mounted the covers where they looked like they should go.

You might have noticed the new ignition switch location in the last pic. Its out-of-the-way yet accessible. I made a plate to mount the switch and used a spacer that I notched to keep the switch from turning and space the switch so it doesn't stick too far out. Before I mounted the plate I added a small shield to keep back-fires etc. out of the switch.

Little by little....

This is going to be my electrical panel. The shape is finalized I just need to make the mounting tabs and figure out how/where all my electronics are going to go. The panel is shaped to follow the frame and to be slightly smaller than my side cover so that it's hidden.

I also had an idea about how to vent my crankcase. Summit Racing sells weld on aluminum bungs for AN fittings. I calculated that a -8AN fitting (~.45" ID) will flow almost twice what the stock breather (~.35" ID) can. I'll end up drilling and welding the bung to the stock breather housing. This leaves the stock breather unused and it needs to be plugged so....

Found an old brake rotor bolt that fits the ID of the stock breather perfectly. So I cut off the unneeded threaded part.

Some welding and grinding....

Compared to a stock breather...

I know that there isn't a lot to report but I haven't had a lot of time lately. I guess that a little progress is better than no progress.

Yeah, me too! But your projects tend to make a LOT of power, so you'd better go slow, eh? :)

It is for this reason, sir, that you are indeed "The Man". It's cool...this puts you in the Solumnruss, Plummen, Steele, etc - Catagory...it's a good place to be. By all means: drive on with your bad self.

Well, like all projects something major is going to change and for me it's going to be a new rear rim and new front end setup.

About a month ago there was a listing on the Craig's list for a pair of '94 Gsxr750 fork legs and a 'Busa rear rim setup up for $100 a piece. A few weeks ago I decided to go with a 6" rim instead of a 5.5" so I can get a flatter profile with the 190 tire Shinko I picked up. I e-mailed the guy figuring that the lot was sold already. Tunes out that he forgot about listing them and we negotiated a deal.
After $150 and 1 speeding ticket here's what I got.

The forks will make mounting my '95 Gsxr750 wheel a whole lot easier. I won't have to have a custom axle made. I will have to get a set of '01-'03 Gsxr750/1000 triple clamps. The newer clamps will let me retain the steering stabilizer where the '93-'95 clamps wouldn't. Then I have to figure out what to do since I already had my gauge mounts welded to the 600's upper clamp.

I'll also change a few things on my swingarm extensions and use the 'Busa axle and brake hanger etc. I'll have to machine the 'Busa sprocket carrier to fit everything in the swingarm but I would have to do that anyway with the 5.5" rim I had.

I also finished my electical panel and made a custom battery box for the Oddessey/FBG battery I'll be running.
