With the pads removed can you move the Caliper body in and out freely on the mounting pins ? (Single piston calipers rely on the opposing force from the piston to move the caliper and apply the inner pad)would normally be the inner pad sticking if this was the issue but worth checking

Yes.  You are correct.  It is misaligned.

Still a problem? Have you checked the underside of caliper for witness markings of disc rubbing on caliper body as mentioned earlier?
