Yup, bought a new solenoid and it was the problem. Bike turns over just fine now. I did have to rebuild the starter motor as well due to slow spin but that has been fixed as well. Now its time to diagnose no spark. I believe the igniter is good, the coils seem good from my testing, but I'm used to working with contact points not the contact breaker system but I think that is the issue on mine.
