Some guy's use the black RTV(Room Temperature Vulcanizing) compound, but go to www.wgcarbs.com and see what he recommends, as he's changed quite a few over the years.

The grommet in the picture looks new. But if needed, Z1E lists new grommets.

Would suggest installation technique similar to that used with the cam cover half moons.
Pristine cleanliness of the grommet (especially the side channels) and recessed cover area where the grommet seats, and the wires. No oil residue being allowed.

And apply a thin layer of oil resistant silicone sealant or Permatex sealant on the wires, and in the grommet holes where the wires pass through, and inside the grommet side channels just before pressing the new grommet into position on the cover. The idea being to achieve a perfect seal against oil leakage past the grommet from underneath the stator cover.

Perhaps someone can offer first hand experience as to whether one of the ThreeBond products might produce a better and longer-lasting seal.

What I ended up doing with mine was take it apart and clean ALL the oil off of and out of the wires and used some Yamabond Case sealer to seal it all up tight. It won't leak if you get all the oil removed and seal it well.
RTV is useless. I use the yamabond on everything because it works! If it does not leak on day 1, it will NEVER leak. The original owner used RTV on mine and guess what, I had to redo it.

Im going to try this method....I have used case sealer before with great success so it makes sense that it would seal this area.

I cleaned the pocket very good and sprayed it out with carb cleaner. There is nothing in the grommet pocket but clean alum. Took down to laundry tub and cleaned with soap and hot water and blew it out with compressed air. Thats as clean as I can get it. Will report back on how the seal works over time.

Thanks for ideas.

Well I got it on.....Went with the Honda Bond.....its oil and vibration resistant, flexable and good upto 600 deg .... I doubt it will leak this time. I put it on thick so I will let air dry for several days. I clamped the grommet down but a little bit of the grommet end is proud of cover to seal when installed.

Honda brand is probably the same. I use the Yamabond also. Some also run a little larger wire through the hole too. I just doped mine up good and have not had a problem for years.

Well its been over a year now and not a drop.

Doesn't look Purdy, but neither does a puddle of oil on the ground. ;)

Might consider this fix if you are dripping at stator grommet.

Did the wires have to be cut, to get thru grommet ? if so, did you reattach inside the cover, or outside ...Thanks... Pete
