OK so I have replaced: the condensers, coils, wires, plugs, and battery. The points gap and I cleaned them, it turns over all day long, but NO SPARK?
Any ideas? Thanks in advance, and yes we made sure the wires to the coils were connected right.

Well Superman... let's see if we can figure this out.

1. How did you determine you were getting no spark?
2. Do you have power going to your coils from the wiring harness? The yellow/red small 18 ga wire is the one carrying power.

1. Are you getting power to the coils?

2. Are you getting from the coils?

3. Are the correct coils connected to the correct cyls?

4. Do you have power at the points?

Process of elimination my friend... :)

Check the wires to the points, maybe you installed them wrong.

Just a shot in the dark :)

Make sure all your wires are connected. My old 650 had the male/female push together connectors everywhere and they were always pulling loose. If that turns out ok, try replacing the plug wires.

- A little di-electric grease at connections never hurt anything either. B)
I know it would not be any fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

Have checked the wires to the points and coils. They are correct. I am getting power to the coils, but not from them. The points are gapping just as they should, so they are getting power. but I had two sets of coils on it and it still wont spark, so It cant be the coils they are brand new.
As for how i am checking I have the plug in the wire sitting on the engine watching it as I turn it over with the starter. I dont get it? I have tried everything I know except buying new points. But I was told that if they are gapping they should produce a spark. More help would be great.

Here is a quick problem I have noticed, I tested the wires with a multimeter and on the right coil it shows that both of the wires are getting power? The green one and the yellow-red one. Now I am pretty sure thats not right. But I havent unplugged a wire since I bought it. So is it possible that the person before me had 2 grounds and 2 power wires to separate coils?

Ok so should I remove the wires before testing them? They are connected to the coils as of right now. But I checked both coils and it says that the wires are both getting 12v on each wire on each coil? I dont have a clue what to do next?

Perhaps the points are dirty and failing to close. When closed, the coil primary winding is supposed to be grounded through the points, which allows current flow creating the magnetic field inside the coil.

Upon points opening, the ground is interrupted, causing the magnetic field to collaspe which creates high voltage in the secondary winding loop through the spark plugs.

If the points aren't "closing" in the first place (i.e., allowing the coil primary to ground), the coil doesn't get "charged up" so it can't function as it's supposed to when the points open.

Just a thought. Good Luck! :)

The coils are new. The coils are getting 12 volts going in on the positive side (yellow and red wire), then getting 12 volts coming out, on the negetive side (green wire). He cleaned the points with a nail file as well. How do you test the points?

Yes two sets of coils both with the new plugs and two sets of wires, still no spark. What about if I have one good coil and one bad coil hooked up. Would that cause it to not spark? Or if there is corrosion in the points cover? I will go work on it for a little and see what I can do.
