Zrx shocks are 30mm longer than stock.
Nevermind, found ZRX 1100 shocks and they look like they will fit. Trying to buy them now

Thanks so much for the kind words. I want to get a picture in sunlight this weekend. Really brings the color out. Do you mean the cost out the door on the shocks? I think it was $634 shipped.

Because above 80 you get the typical tank slap butt pucker weave of death!
Nice bike! Without scrutinizing the pics, and besides the obvious accessories, looks pretty original Seat catch is wrong tho. Be careful leaving it out in the sun. The paint is vulnerable to peeling and fading.
Mine would do that at 93 mph. Not above or below. I'd lower the windshield. I like mine. I can ride as fast as I want without having to tuck in. Easier on long rides too. Don't have to fight the wind for 100+ miles.
Steve
Mine did that at 80 with stock shocks. Haven't had it happen after installing a modified set of ZRX shocks....had it up to 120. No frame brace or stabilizer.
Nice KZ750L that is a very nice bike for the price. They are becoming nearly if not as rare as the 82 GPz750.
That tank is hard to find. Please don't hack it up. If you wan't to modify it let me know I'll trade you mine that has some dents in it. The fuel gauge sender unit may be faulty and need replacement but it could just be a short in the connectors or wiring like mine has but I haven't had a chance to correct. When it starts acting up I just reach down and jiggle the connectors.
Various parts for that bike interchange with the 1982 (only) GPz750 (aka KZ750R1), the KZ700A, the KZ750E and the GT750 (aka KZ750P, very rare in the states).
The ZR7 (ZR750) from 99-05 is basically updated version of the KZ750 series and many of the parts will work with various degrees of modification including engine swaps. Some Parts from the ZRX1100/1200 series will work with little trouble as well. If you want a factory speedo that goes up to 150mph, if yours if form the 85 only era, you can find them in the UK that fit many models just drop the "k" out of the model designation to find one. i.e. Z750L.
This is my 82 GPz that I'm in the middle of resto-modding, taking extreme care not to do anything irreversible. The shocks are ZRX and many of the other non standard parts are from or intended to go on a ZR7.

I am using a Zephyr 750 swing arm on my 1 980 1000LTD project. I have a pair of zrx1200 shocks too. I recently discovered this solution to the wider shock mounts needed to make it all work.
I will be making a pair for my project.

Guys-
I'm working on my 1981 KZ LTD. my goal is to end up with an AMA style tribute bike to the early days of The KZ being the first Jap bike to win the AMA here in America.
Think Reg Pridmore
The goal is to use mostly period correct race style mods only. I'll retain factory brakes, factory forks, etc. while not stock but try to use period correct modifications, or modifications that appear as period correct.
It seems all those early AMA guys did different things for swing arms. It looks like the original Vetter bike ran some kind of aluminum swingarm. Eddie Lawson's bikes seem to run some kind of braced factory style swingarm that winds up looking like a ZRX arm.
So to the question. What kind of swap or modification would be semi-correct and be a fairly straight forward swap. I want to retain dual shocks and the factory cast 18" wheel. So I guess a 20mm axle. I've seen this done with GS1100E arms as well as ZRX arms.
I'm on a budget. I can source spacers or turned axles if I need them. Not afraid to weld steel or aluminum.
Any advice or suggestions would be super helpful.
