The extra tank, as you call it, is a chamber for pressurized nitrogen. It helps to prevent the oil from frothing under severe usage.
The very best shocks you can get are Ohlins, but they are quite expensive. You might be able to adapt some used shocks from a ZRX 1100 or 1200. They have the nitrogen reservoir, and are rebuildable. You will need to compare measurements.
I don’t think Hagon makes that style. Perhaps YSS does.

I think I've posted about how the lower shock mounts on the swing arm are in to far and pull the
bottom of the shocks in so tonight got to looking at what I need to do to fix that.
Simple fix cut them off and make new mounts and have them welded on arm's cro-mo I don't have a Tig welder

Got to thinkin and came up with a way to use the mounts that are on it and make some adjustable mount's.
Cut a 2" thick piece off a 4x4x12 piece of alum I've got and fired up the getto mill.

But ended up buying some second hand shocks, believing they were Z1100R. but they do seem to look more Zephyr 750 under the thin coat of home sprayed Gold! I have think even though the Z1100R and Zephyr 750 shocks boddies are the same, the springs may be different as the Zephyr 750 is a lighter bike than the Z1100R. I have e-mailed firefox who rebuild shocks to see if they can provide me with suitable springs. The ZRX shocks would make a good replacement if I cant upgrade the springs.

Hi,

I have Zephyr 1100, zrx1100 and Ohlins shocks, those do not look like any of them. GOOD news, all of the piggy back KYB shocks can be rebuilt, re-valved and re-sprung. Jamie Daughtery of DRM www.daughertymotorsports.com/ totally awesome guy, stupid smart about suspension, and the only guy I trust to do my suspension work. He has his own cartridge system and can re-valve any KYB or showa shock. I also had him rebuild and modify an old Fox twin-clicker to fit my RZ350. He does motorcycle shocks for fun, his real job is rebuilding and setting up Nascar and other pro racers shocks.

I really can't say a 1100 shock is different having never had one in the shop but I can say the 750 is much different.
750 Zephyr on right, ZRX on left, ZRX definitely a better built shock.

Those aren't ZRX1100/1200 shocks, they do look like my Zephyr 750 shocks. My 750 Zephyr is the spongiest softest suspension I've ever rode, it sucks badly. You can try them but I'm betting you're going to be unhappy unless you just want a super soft ride.

Curtis went out of town last week so my head didn't get finished but he said I should get it back tomorrow.

Moved it to the A/C side of the shop so I can work on it.

Had a few hours this morning to mess with the chain and sprocket alignment and looks like
I need to take about an 1/8" off the motor side of the off set front ZX sprocket and the same off the rear sprocket carrierto get the chain past the frame. If I use the flat ZRX front sprocket the chain will get into the tire.

Lower shock mounts on this arm are not in the right place and pull the shocks in at the bottom but an easy fix
I'll cut them off and make a new set.

I don't need to adjust preload.

I think for now I'll just drill out the second stop on the shocks and use that height. The shocks ride good and i don't see any leaks. I do have a question though.. If the inside ring and outside ring are welded together how do you adjust preload. By looking at your pics, it looks like the inner ring has only a 'U" shaped cutout on it. Thanks
