Actually I thought about them a long time ago, but gave up when I could not determine how they fastened to the head.
Still don't know, so my opinion is askew.

I too would be concerned about these things blocking the air flow to cool the engine.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times so I'll ad my 2 cents worth.  I think they'd add to the surface area of the block and probably draw heat , therefore they would actually help remove heat by increasing surface area and acting like a heat sink, being further out in the breeze it would lose that heat faster , possibly aiding cooling. I just can't see them "blocking" air flow at all as most airflow comes from the front.  It could possibly act like bigger fins on the block...

They attach to the upper case at two of the clutch cover and the inner points housing bolts, and have two tabs the rest on one of the block fins on the top. Attaching point surface area is so small I don’t see how they could conduct heat transfer. They are slightly spaced away from the block so I’d think air flow restriction would minimal. I can’t see them affecting convection in either way. They are a period correct aftermarket item, if you like them good, if not good also. It a personal choice thing.

From what I gather, some of them attach to the head bolts, they would heat up and probably draw away a little heat, even if its only a small amount. My point was that I doubt they'd trap heat....

Kinda like what some Japanese riders do with steel clamps.
