I am a simple man who enjoys simple things. I could have gone to a 530 chain when I did my KZ-1000 overhaul, but the sprockets were new and I thought to heck with it, stay with 630. The added bonus was not having to mess around with all those crazy calculations and end up with something I didn't like. Besides, 630 chain on a bike looks way cooler and is OEM! And as a point of interest, I went with a clip style master link and after 2,000 some miles haven't had a single problem with it, but I don't do 8,000 RPM hole shots either. Somehow I doubt the engine knows if it has 630 or 530 chain on it the way I ride.

They have quality 530 chain today with super high tensile strength. Some of the Pro Stock drag bikes use it! Of course EK or Tsubuki is up there. I built one over 9 yrs ago. when I was still in the City house. I wish the Hot Rod on the table was 530! Could have snuck a 160 maybe 180 rear tire instead of the 150 rear. I'll find those pics too. That was an "Irish Will" old member plate he made and sold. 2010.
That was a middle of a rake job too. I found pics I forgot I had. Thats the race car 1/2 built too.

As a second topic about this 530/630 discussion, I'm trying to find the sprocket "type" (or pattern) in JT nomenclature.
I looked at Z1 Enterprises website (pretty awful to search on their website...) and what I found so far is written below. The missing pattern I would like to know if for a 1000J 530 front.

1983 KZ750L         630     ***      530
FRONT                JTF518  ***   JTF513
REAR                  JTR501  ***   JTR488

1982 KZ1000J       630     ***    530
FRONT               JTF522  ***   JTF???
REAR                 JTR501  ***   JTR488

There are a few 530 front sprockets with various offsets that fit the 1000J Z-12 spline.
JTF517, JTF527, JTF528 etc.
These are all mostly newer Kawasaki fitments, ZZR etc.

I looked at the three numbers you wrote and, indeed, they all fit on the output splines. However, I'm looking for a straight replacement for my 1000J and only the flat JTF517 will fit.
As you wrote, JTF527 and JTF528 are offset and probably not meant to be used on a KZ.
Many thanks for your answer!!

If it can help anyone, here's a picture I just made with the information above.
Added information: JTF517 front sprocket needs two shims (1x 2 mm and 1x 4 mm) for correct alignment.

Not sure if this will help or not but I used sprockets from Z1 Enterprises on a 630-530 conversion on my 82 GPZ1100 (J motor).
Front :SS635 Series 18 tooth - Item # AD635-18
Rear : JTR488 Series 45 tooth - Item # BAJTR488-45

Both were bolt-on and required no shimming.

I’m now ready to buy 530 sprockets for KZ1000Js and Z1 Enterprises just told me their SS635 series is discontinued...
Any idea where I could buy such front sprocket?
JT’s would work but I prefer a direct fit with no shim needed.
Thanks!

FWIW, I didn't find any "bolt-on" 530 front sprocket so, I got cut some laser stainless steel shims and bought JT front & rear sprocket (JT rear is a direct fit). Lot of choices in number of teeth for both units!

That's odd, I even found bolt on JT sprockets for a 520 conversion. On JT sprockets site they have the dimensions of the sprockets there as well, I just matched the dimensions of the sprockets , I can't remember exactly but I think the front was for a later model ZZR 600 and the rear was easy as there's no offset, I think there was even a Suzuki sprocket, GSXR maybe,  that also would have worked..  Took a little bit of searching but it was by no means difficult. I'm sure there's off the shelf 530's to suit. Anyway, glad you got it sorted..
