Spokes are a @#%&$&@#$! LOAD of work to keep clean, and they have to be trued as part of regular maintenence.

Go with nice lighter mags.

Stock wire spoke wheels are lighter than stock mags off the same bike. I didn't believe it till I weighed them.

Late model sport bike wheels are probably a lot lighter though.

Oops...glad I didn't know that. 31 years on the original spokes and still tight (and straight). maybe I got lucky....

To me spokes look better on some bikes and mags look better on others. I've run both on different bikes and prefer mags for their durability, inability to rust, and easy cleaning. However, keep in mind that depending on the model changing over will usually require more than just swapping wheels. For example, swapping the rear wheel on '77 KZ650 would also require changing the rear brake system from drum to disk (including welding on a mount for the different rear brake system) and modifying or swapping swingarms to accomodate the different torque link position. Well one thing I didn't see in the replies is with a mag you can be tubeless, spokes will require a tube.
Spokes seem to get settled in after a while, reducing the tightening maintenance, but the first few services it is often overlooked.

Spokes are by far the prettier wheel, but the mag wheel is so much less effort!

I don't like spokes. They remind me of a bicycle wheel. I want a more manly looking wheel.
