piggyback shocks
18 Aug 2010 05:20
I was on the Showa and Ohlins sites and it seems they don't carry shocks for kz1000's anymore, does anybody know of any decent piggyback shocks still available for these old bikes? Is an older set from eBay my only option?

Drum roll please...
Tada:
Not piggyback... but they work excellent, even for 2up!
Don't waste your money - unless you plan on racing (and loosing to everything else) on the fat old beast!
Cheers.

Yeah I know I don't need the piggyback shocks for anything, they just look amazing. I looked through Hagon stuff before and couldn't find any there. I may just hold out for a set on eBay

Ohlins makes piggybacks which work and look great but they are $800. Before I had them I got a pair of ZRX11/12 shocks from ebay for about $200. They worked well, but the damping was very subpar - I suspect they were sold b/c they had worn out. Still looked good.

I think I will keep my eyes open for some zrx or zephyr takeoffs, I am putting them on a swing arm that was originally a monoshock, so I can move the mounts back to accomodate the 14.5 inch length. Even if they are worn out they will be better than the super worn out tired old stockers I have!

Here's a shot of Ohlins piggy back shocks on a triple project I was working on but I think I will move them to the Z1 project bike.
I bought them on ebay for about $450 + shipping. I got a little carried away in the final few minutes of the auction! They are for a Honda CB1000 (93-97) the model # is S36P.

Have you tried:
www.kawasakipartshouse.net/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx
?
They have them listed at $575, but there's no guarantee it's actually in stock.

I have a Zephyr 750 and replaced the stock shocks for ZRXs because of the looks. I still have the stock ones if you are interested.
