Putting rear sets on
28 Jun 2010 05:08
Noob question. I'm interested in putting rear sets on my KZ but not sure how to do it. Can anybody shed some light on the subject?

All depends on what your truly asking...
Examples:
Which bike are we speaking of, are you looking for already made/fabricated rear sets for a KZ900/1000...
Some fab up an adapter plate that bolts onto existing peg frame mounting and the rear sets mount to the plate.
If you have a welder then you could just weld the threaded adapters to the frame and go from there....
If it helps, here's how I did mine....
Picked up a used set of rear sets form Bike junk yard $40.... Buffed them out....
Picked up some threaded coupling nuts at ACE hardware and welded to the frame.... Painted frame black....

it's going on my 79' KZ1000 was hoping I could get away with not welding on the frame or drilling the frame. Might try the adapter plate. I know a guy that does water jet metal cutting and might get him to make me a bracket.

I installed R6 rearsets on my bike, without any cutting or welding. I cut and welded everything else though  I made a bracket and modified the OEM mounting pegs. I'll post a link to my project thread when I get home.

awesome thanks porchev. I can't seem to get my foot to function right with the pegs where they are now. and rearsets would make it a whooooole lot easier.
