is there any diff between dyna(green) coils & factory replacements besides cost ??? and if i go dyna do i need to remove anything in line...ballast resistors etc?? i have a dyna s ignition...78 kz1000

Likely very little if any performance difference in spark intensity or quality, or in service lives of coils.

Oem coils have integral spark plug wires, requiring a left coil (with longer wires to reach the two outside plugs) and a right coil (with shorter wires to reach the two inside plugs).
Will also need four plug caps for wires on the oem coils.

Oem coil primary winding is 3.2~4.8 ohms.

No ballast resistor involved with coil primary wiring on 1978 KZ1000.

Dyna green coils are bolt-on replacements, designed for using with Dyna-S electronic ignition.
But be careful to assure Dyna coil primary wire screw head doesn't short against the coil mounting spacer.

Would opt for a pair of Dyna green 3 ohm coils and a set of Dyna solid core plug wires (come with caps already built in), both coils and wires available at Z1E.

Where cost is critical, Z1E also lists a less expensive coil, which has received some favorable reviews from KZr members.
Am uncertain, but might be this one > www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=2857

Here are more options from Z1E:

www.z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=4334

If wanting some resistance in secondary loop (high intensity voltage in spark plug wires) to dispel radio interference or some other reason, may choose one -- only one, without combining -- of the three common methods:
1. Resistor style spark plug wires;
2. Resistor type spark plugs (eg., NGKBR8ES);
3. Resistor caps (have built-in resistor in each cap).

Good Fortune! :)
