Good Fortune!

Patton is my hero.
I'll be taking that handlebar switches for that 78SR, Looks perfect for 15bucks! I'll post a picture of progress this weekend. (hopefully a picture of some nice beautiful clubmans instead of flipped handlebars)

...shopping around on Ebay for the switches I need, I started noticing the incredibly low handlebar prices that are out there...found an offer of clubmans, bar end mirrors and grips! My bike doesn't have mirrors or grips currently, so this seems like quite the buy...7/8 seems to fit every 70's era motorcycle I've come across.
The 7/8 handlebars should fit just fine.

Ordered a left hand switch from a 1979 kz650SR, It should fit a '77. Also ordered the Clubmans, free shipping is epic. Having some trouble finding a decent looking 70's era left hand switch. Anyone have suggestions? Would it be a safe assumption that a 1980's lefty switch will fit just as well as a 1970's?

Yep, pretty much everything but Hardleys use 7/8" bars. It's a little more difficult to check if they will clear your tank though, even if you are in the same room as the bike. Just about anything can be made to fit though.

Just for info the 77 left handlebar switch is not the same as a 78. In 78 they added the 4 way emergency flasher switch that wasn't there on a 1977 KZ650b, so if you buy any 1978 up switch it isn't going to plug into existing wiring. Can be made to work I'm sure, but not a simple plug in. Trouble with Kawasaki parts listings as Patton listed is they list parts that were on any model within a series as sometimes the entire series. 1977-1979 KZ650 was on the same fiche originally, that part was on the fiche, but had a footnote as only used in 1977. Kawasaki does'nt care anymore.
321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

A pricey but very good electrical contact cleaner/preservative I use on my bike is "De-Oxit"
www.deoxit.com
is their website.
I use it on cordless phone charging cradles, our home entertainment center patch cords, and any place having electrical contacts.
Radio Shack Stores in the U.S. carry it(I believe in a 2 pack for $15.00)and most electronic supply places carry it too. A little goes a long way. When treating contacts, I spray a little on a cotton swab, and then lightly brush the contact, I've found a treatment will last a year or better.

RonKZ650,
My current bike is a '77 but has hazard lights on the left side switch. Would this mean the switches aren't original? Now that I think about it, they are the only thing that didn't originally work when I got the bike. Yet under the gas tank everything was plugged, no loose ends or non-connected wires.
I'll have to cut the ends off the switches I get anyway, and wire them into where the female ends set of wires. (female end was chopped too)
