I haven't made any progress yet just because Iv had no time over the Christmas period. I'll be opening the carb tomorrow to see if the vacuum piston is sticking

Just had a look at the vacuum piston and it seemed to be sliding perfectly, although the rubber diaphragm is extremely sticky. The diaphragm has a small tear in it could that be the problem?
