I think those are atmospheric pressure vents so the float bowls don't "lock up" in a vacuum as the fuel level drops and bounces around... etc.
There should be some vent tubes connected to the little spigots and run down towards the ground.

Those are bowl vents and have to remain open - as missionkz indicated.

Check your spark plug wires. If you have swapped 1 & 2 this would cause the problem you mentioned.

one coil feeds #1 & #4 cylinder, the other coils #2 & #3.

Just get a new $20 front sprocket and ride

swap it out in 10 mins whenever your ride dictates.. smooth running carbs are a key to enjoy the KZ/GPZ..
