Air box tops

So, my air box top looks about like this:

Attachment airboxtop.jpg not found

So it won't attach to the airbox anymore. It seems like most of what I find on e-bay is in similar condition, and it's not an active part according to the Kawasaki site.

Does anyone have any clever fixes to keep that from leaking. Otherwise, the air just kind of goes around the filter without needing to go through it, which may be part or all of what's contributing to the lean condition I'm getting (I got plenty of other problems too, but one at a time).

You may want to clean it well and then try some super-glue. That stuff may do the trick. Ed

I'd try super glue or better still Araldite maybe even silicon
If you don't fancy that there's one on eBay, bit.ly/13IJxCJ
Good luck

Oh well. I was hoping there'd be a compatible part from another bike or something. Was trying to avoid buying a whole new airbox just to get the one piece, but I might have to. I'll try gluing things together if I can find the part of the top that has the threads, it seems to have wandered off.

I'm pretty sure all of the KZ650s & 750-4s use the same airbox cap. Kawasaki dealers are supposed to have some sort of nationwide search for finding parts that the individual dealers happen to have in stock (that may be otherwise listed as NLA). So, if there's a helpful Kaw dealer near you, maybe someone there can do some checking for you?

it's shown in my parts manual as Part Number 11012-069 and the H1,H2 and H3 all have the same part number.

A quick look on Google and SpeedSupplies.com lists the cap for $12.50

www.speedsupplies.com/parts/kawasaki-11012-069.htm

You may find it cheaper if you try a few other links.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Speedsupplies won't have it because according to Kawasaki.com it is no longer an "Active" part. Speedsupplies lists everything, but they include a note that states:

"Parts availability is subject to that of the manufacturer's stock. No New Old Stock items available." Ed

I just used some JB weld clear epoxy to hold some stuff together. I guarantee it will hold that.

Yup, I found listings for it, but they were usually listed as "out of stock," etc because it isn't active. I can't find the threaded portion of my top, so gluing it together might not be an option. And it's in pretty rough shape as a whole, looks like the guy overtightenned it a bunch, everything's cracked on it. I'll try checking with a dealer to see if they can find one. If not, I'll just have to buy a whole box, or wait around e-bay for a while until one shows up by itself. Not a huge deal compared to some of the other issues this thing has right now.

Did u try the links I posted earlier?
They were listing as in stock. I tried adding to basket to make sure.
Good luck.

What else needs fixing?

Being able to add an item to a cart doesn't mean they have it or can get it. Some places will take your money, then tell you afterwards that the part is NLA.
