I mean that's a great point. I dunno. I was takin down the road on this bike. The bike sat since 92 so I thought it could have been possible that a mouse could have done it over time. What could have caused it do you think? Its just the very base of the slide. I mean they seem to function properly. Open and close ok but I took the bike to a mechanic and just thought I would replace them while carbs are torn down.

i would guess some really bad gas sitting in there over the years turned to syrup and started to corrode the aluminum maybe,or some water got in there and did it?
