Idle mixture screws(1 on each carb) are how many turns out from being lightly seat (all the way in)?
Idle speed screw(1) is set where?
Pilot jets are seated all the way in.
What size are the pilot jets?
Where are the needles set?

The mixture screws were all around 2 turns out when I took them out to clean so thats where I put them back, all around 2 turns out. The idle speed screw is maybe three or four turns in after making contact with the tab. The pilot jets are seated all the way down. I could only get three of them out but I spent alot of time with carb cleaner, compressed air and a guitar string in the one i couldnt get loose. Someone before me buggered it up. I'm not sure what size the pilot jets are but I'm sure they are stock as the bike was when I got it. The needles are not shimmed or anything but do not have slots to move them up or down. I'm sure I have a huge mess here but I'm learning. So far I've learned that everything I learned working on equipment in the army doesn mean S#$% to this Kaw lol.

On BS34s the "choke" which actually a fuel enrichment curcuit has like three positions.
All the way out is full choke.
All the way in is no choke or enrichment.
Are the carbs hanging up on the middle setting?

I didn't check it on the middle position. I just tried it full choke and no choke. What should I expect on half choke?

Half choke.
Just wondering if the enrichment curcuit was not closing all the way.

Would lube the "rusty" advancer unit.
Would remove all the clean air paraphernalia (see image below), connect the two then unused cam cover ports to each other, plug/cap all unused vacuum nipples, and plug or tape over exposed hole in air box.
These procedures should help resolve possible issues of a sticking advancer and possible air leak associated with the clean air apparatus.
Good Fortune!

Here's a pic of the oem ignition introduced on 1979 KZ1000-A3 and D2 models that replaced the earlier points ignition.

So I got the bike put back together, sorted through all of my carb issues and the bike roared to life. Thank you guys alot for helping me get the beast going again. I can't wait to chop the harleys heads off leaving the driveway at work everyday. They hardleys talk so much trash about my rice cooker but it smokes the shit out of an 883, road king and a fat bob. It runs a bit rough but smooths out after a few minutes of idling. Still idles around 1k but alot of people say thats normal for 4 into 1's and pods? Anyway I'll post the video I took out of excitement today.
